How to Add Templates to Your Product Images in Atelier (Step-by-Step)

What a template actually does

A template in Atelier is a saved, reusable set of image prompts. Instead of describing the look you want every single time, you build the recipe once: pick the number of images, then write a prompt for each one — a clean hero shot, a lifestyle scene, a detail close-up, and so on.

After that, generating a full, on-brand image set for any product is a two-click job. Every listing comes out with the same framing, lighting, and style — which is exactly what makes a catalog look professional rather than pieced together. If you're managing more than a handful of SKUs, this is the feature that keeps everything consistent at scale.

Step 1 — Open the Templates page

From your Atelier dashboard, click Templates in the left sidebar. This is where every template you create lives. If you've used Atelier before, you may already see one here — like the built-in Amazon Product Listing template below.

Step 2 — Click "Add Template" and fill in your prompts

Hit the + Add Template button in the top-right. A panel opens where you set up the whole recipe:

• Template Name — something you'll recognize later, like "My Dawn Theme Template".
• Number of Images — how many images this template generates per product (e.g. 4).
• Image Prompts — one prompt per image, describing the exact shot you want.

Write each prompt as if you're briefing a photographer — describe the background, lighting, mood, and composition. For a cohesive set, vary the shot but keep the style language consistent. Here's the four-image recipe used in the example above:

1. Hero shot: "Luxury beige leather handbag floating on a soft cream background, subtle coral-red shadow beneath, premium studio lighting."
2. Clean catalog shot: "Elegant tote bag centered on a clean blush-white gradient background with soft realistic shadows. Minimal premium advertising style, no props, high-end e-commerce photography."
3. Styled scene: "Modern fashion handbag placed on a simple geometric pedestal, cream and coral-red color palette. Clean luxury branding, minimal composition, editorial product photography."
4. Detail/render: "Premium leather bag floating slightly above a soft cream background with subtle glow accents. High-end studio render, minimalist design, plenty of negative space."

Step 3 — Save it

Click Create Template. Your new template is saved instantly and shows up on the Templates page next to any others — ready to use on any product. You can come back and edit it anytime using the pencil icon on the card.

Step 4 — Select your template when generating images

Now put it to work. When you generate images for a product, Atelier walks you through a short flow. At the Select a Template step, you'll see every template you've saved, each showing how many images it produces and a preview of its first prompt. Click the one you want.

Step 5 — Review and generate

Once a template is selected, Atelier shows you exactly what it's about to create — every image in the set, with the prompt it will use, built from your current product photo. Give it a final look and click Generate Images.

That's it. In a few seconds you get a complete, consistent image set for the product — and the next time you generate, that same template is one click away.

Tips for better templates

• Build one template per theme or channel. A clean white-background set for Amazon, a lifestyle set for your Shopify storefront, a moody editorial set for social.
• Keep your style words consistent across prompts. Repeating phrases like "soft cream background" and "premium studio lighting" is what makes the set look like one shoot.
• Vary the shot, not the brand. Hero, catalog, lifestyle, detail — different angles and scenes, same visual identity.
• Iterate. If one image isn't right, edit that single prompt in the template and re-run — no need to rebuild from scratch.
